OnePlus Drone DR-1 won’t be landing in India after all

DR-1-DeniedI’ve talked about the OnePlus Drone DR-1 before, it is essentially one of the many Cheerson CX-10 rebrands that exist in the market.

In this case though, the matter is a little different. OnePlus is already a ‘settled’ company, and the DR-1 drone, despite being a Cheerson CX-10 clone, has a lot of demand. However, at least potential buyers in India won’t be getting access to the drone (through official channels, that is) thanks to the Customs Dept. of India.

The reality is that our DR-1’s have run into turbulence with the custom authorities and the unfortunate part is that we couldn’t get it released inspite of our best efforts.OnePlus

Not only will the OnePlus Drone not enter India, but the entire consignment containing the innumerable DR-1 units will be destroyed. “The reality is that our DR-1’s have run into turbulence with the custom authorities and the unfortunate part is that we couldn’t get it released inspite of our best efforts,” added OnePlus in a blog post. “They were in-fact destroyed since being termed as prohibitive goods entering the country.”

India really has a harsh policy on drones, which is taking time to be reformed. Here’s hoping OnePlus Drone DR-1 fans are able to score the product via other channels, such as Geekbuying (sold for $22 shipped), etc.
