The good folks over at MJX seem to have taken time off making hexacopters and have announced the new MJX X101 quadcopter. In more ways than one, the X101 looks like a direct Syma X8C competitor to me.
Thankfully though, the MJX X101 doesn’t have a design that’s lifted from any other quadcopter. The Syma X8C on the other hand, is clearly inspired by the DJI Phantom series.
MJX have made their name in the multicopter market by providing some value for money aircraft, so the X101 is certainly something worth watching out for.
For a quadcopter to be a Syma X8C rival, it has to have the ability to carry a camera. Which the X101 does… unfortunately there’s no variant of the X101 that comes bundled with a camera (yet). You have to buy one of your own. It can work with the C4005, C4008, C4009 cameras.
The MJX X101 comes with a 1200mAh LiPo battery, which does fall short of the 2000mAh of the X8C, but given that the X101 is a bit more affordable than the latter, 1200mAh doesn’t sound all that bad.
