10 Best Drones Under $200 for Christmas 2016
The Hubsan X4 H502S is probably on of the best and easy to use drones on this list. It’s relatively small but packs a tonne of features, such as HD video recording, GPS-assisted one key return, altitude mode and emergency hover.
With the X4 H502S you also get a transmitter with a 4.3-inch screen for real time FPV, other than that, it comes with an high voltage 7.4V (2S) 610mAh battery giving the drone around 12-13 minutes of flight time.
The Eachine Assassin 180 V2 is an unique FPV drone with a DIY look. This exact version comes with everything you need to fly FPV from the get-go, you will indeed find the drone (duh!) and its battery, FPV glasses and its battery, the transmitter, receiver and other accessories.
The drone packs a Naze 32 flight controller for higher stability, integrated barometer, electronic compass, acceleration sensor and GPS. OSD is built-in and will show up on the display, including info such as altitude, flight speed, course, battery voltage and image transmission frequency; it’ll also tell you when the battery is low.
Eachine’s Assassin 180 V2 also features a 3S 1000mAh smart battery with quick-release design and a flight time of about 7-9 minutes
The AOSENMA CG035 is a big brushless drone with double GPS global positioning system. It sports features such as Follow Me, GPS One Key return, fixed point circling and Full HD 1080p video recording.
On the CG035’s transmitter, which definitely took inspiration from some other design (Phantom), we find a FPV monitor that will show what the camera sees at 5.8Ghz. The drone comes with a big 7.4V 2600mAh Lipo battery and the surprisingly good flight time of about 15-20 minutes.
The Hubsan FPV X4 Plus H107D+ is another small easy to use FPV quadcopter. This version comes with a wide angle 5.8Ghz lens for a better FPV experience, it’s also available with WiFi FPV is you so desire.
The drone sports some basic features including headless mode, altitude hold and 3D rolls. It packs a 3.7V 520mAh battery which gives it and autonomy of about 7 minutes.
The Cheerson CX-35 is a relatively big drone with HD video recording capability and 5.8Ghz FPV streaming. It features precise altitude hold, One Key return, One Key to land and One Key to take off.
The transmitter has a built-in 4.3-inch monitor with a resolution of 480×272, which should be plenty enough to get an idea of what’s in front of the drone. Videos & photos have a resolution of 1280x720px.
This drone comes packing a 7.4V 1300mAh battery with a flight time of around 6 to 7 minutes.
At almost the top of around price range ($200) we find the XK Stunt X350, a really powerful drone that you should only get if you know what 3D flying is. This drone is mostly aimed at extreme aerobatics such as flips, rolls or flying upside-down.
The XK STUNT X350 is very light at 770 grams and it packs a big and high voltage 11.1V 2200mAh 40C LiPo battery, which is what gives this drone this drone the power it needs to push the four strong 2212 1400/KV brushless motors. You can expect a flight time of between 12-18 minutes.
Coming from the huge success of the JJRC X1, here’s the new 5.8Ghz FPV version named X1G. It comes with a 600TVL-120 degrees FPV camera coupled with a 350mW VTX. This kit is Ready-To-Fly, so you only have to turn on the drone and transmitter to get a video connection, which you will then see on the built-in FPV monitor.
The JJRC X1G packs a 7.4V 1300mAh battery for 15 minutes of flight time, don’t get fooled by the carbon fiber look, it’s actually made of ABS plastic.
The Syma X8HG is an easy to fly drone that packs an 8.0MP camera for photo shooting and video recording. The ‘H’ in the name stands for Altitude Hold, which is a feature that comes pretty handy in video creation. Read our Syma X8HG review here!
There’s no FPV, neither 5.8GHz nor WiFi, so you’ll have to figure out what you’re recording by yourself, but you’ll improve over time.
The drone is fueled by a big 7.4V 2000mAh battery which gives the Syma X8HG a flight time of about 5-7 minutes.
The XK X252 is a brushless drone with 3D flying capability and built-in 5.8Ghz FPV 720P 140 ° wide-angle camera. That means it can stream 720p video directly to the FPV monitor present on the transmitter.
Being very light (just 220 grams) and boasting four powerful 1804 brushless motors, the X252 can go to speeds up to 20m/s.
The drone can also record videos on the microSD card you can insert in it and it can fly for about 12 minutes with the 7.4V 950mAh included battery.
Yes, you’re right, it does look like a DJI Inspire but what’s the harm in that? It costs about 1/20th of the original one and it will shoot videos not nearly as good. But how cool is it when it lifts the legs up and goes into flying mode? For that reason I think it would be a great Christmas for you or anybody you know who’s into RC. Read out WLToys Q333 review here!
The WLtoys Q333 also packs some useful features such as One Key return, One Key take off and One Key landing. It also supports FPV flying at 5.8Ghz, streaming directly to the monitor built-in into the transmitter.
Due to its heavy weight (1.65Kg), the Q333 has a limited flight time of 8 minutes max with the included 7.4V 2000mAh battery, so if you go with this one, pick up some extra batteries.
