DJI Spark vs Mavic Pro

Update: The DJI Spark is officially launched and is available to purchase from the official store.

Earlier:

We’ve been flooded with rumors about the DJI Spark drone, also known as the Mavic Mini — moniker which I refuse to accept — and as such it gets compared a lot to the older bigger “brother”, the DJI Mavic Pro.

The DJI Spark is said to be costing about $500 and with this price-tag we’re probably going to lose many of the features we love on the DJI Mavic. This is why we are now comparing the two and see if the savings are worth the losses.

Goes without saying, this comparison is solely based on rumors so take it with a grain of salt.

Model Name DJI Spark  DJI Mavic
Foldable design No Yes
Remote controller Smartphone/dedicated controller Yes

Camera gimbal 2-axis 3-axis

Brushless motors Yes Yes
Dimensions 170mm (L) x 140mm (W) (based on rumors) 83mm x 83mm x 198mm (folded)

As we you can see, we’re probably going to lose important features, hopefully the drone can be controlled via transmitter, otherwise that’s going to be a big bummer for those who wanted to save money but still be able to manoeuvre the drone more “professionally”. But these are just rumors, all we can do now is wait and hope!
