Zhicheng Z8 – Hover Camera Passport Clone now on Sale

Did you really like the Hover Camera Passport when it launched but you weren’t willing to spend $599.99 on it? Well, at around a year later you can get a very similarly looking one for less than 1/10th the price; keep reading!

Zhicheng Z8

The drone we’re talking about is called Zhicheng Z8 and, as you can see in the image above, it really resembles the more expensive Hover Camera Passport drone, with the entirety of the drone being caged in a plastic frame, making it super safe to fly at home.

Where the Z8 falls short is in the lack of an actual folding system, Zhicheng’s drone does indeed not fold in any way, shape or form, so you can’t really reduce its size. That said, with this kind of design, even the Passport drone would keep the same volume when folded, thus making the entire folding gimmick somewhat pointless.

We’ve been focusing a lot on the design of the drone, but what about its features? Well, the Zhicheng Z8 packs either a 0.3MP camera or a 720p video recording one, plus it supports WiFi FPV, so you can have a live view of what the drone sees directly on your smartphones.

Other features include Altitude Hold Mode, Headless Mode, One Key Return and Path Flight Mode. The drone can also do 3D flips and comes with a 3.7V 450mAh battery for about 6 to 7 minutes of flight time.

Zhicheng Z8 Pricing and Photos

The Zhicheng Z8 can be found on Chinese retail stores such as Banggood starting at $35.99 for the 0.3MP version and $40.99 for the model featuring a 720p.

Given the price of the original Hover Camera Passport, the two options above look like great deals. Sure they won’t record videos at the same quality, but if you want something easy and safe to fly at home our around kids, then they might be something worth considering.
