DJI just announced the new and improved Osmo Mobile 2 and Ronin-S ahead of the CES 2018 (Consumer Electronic Show) that is kicking off tomorrow January 9th.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and DJI Ronin-S are part of their lineup of video stabilizers both for smartphones and DSLRs. With the new Osmo Mobile 2 you’ll be getting simpler controls with cinematic zoom and a longer battery life. The gimbal will be compatible with iPhones and include three-axis stabilization technology to reduce shakes from the three directions, this will allow you to have a shake-free footage even if your hands move.
Thanks to DJI’s SmoothTrack technology, it’ll be able to detect and compensate for the person’s movement of the camera and “ensure a smooth cinematic shot every time.”
DJI said that the battery on the Osmo Mobile 2 is “more powerful” than on the original one and it’ll be possible to film for up to 15 hours, that’s about three times longer. Lastly, there’s a new USB port to charge your smartphone while employing the Osmo Mobile 2 and it can also be used to charge other devices when not in use.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 will cost around $163 USD at launch and it’ll be exclusively available on Apple.com, pre-orders starting on January 23rd. Later in February, the gimbal will come onto the DJI store and the various authorized resellers.
