Meet the new construction toy range from RC manufacturer Huina
Most of us have dreamt of piling and raking up sand with miniature bulldozers and excavators and dumping the sand on to a dump truck in our childhood. These kind of toys started hitting the market over a decade ago but back then they were controlled by a wired controller and the gear mechanisms were a bit weak to lift or carry decent amount sand and pebbles.
Some of us might have been fortunate enough to play with them while we were young itself (I remember getting a wired JCB after skipping a day’s meal), while for the rest, now is the time to finally fulfill that dream as such toys have received the RC love and are very cheap too. These can be great christmas gifts too for the young ones.
Huina is one such manufacturer that makes these kind of RC construction vehicle toys. The company’s product line up features most of the vehicles that you could think of when construction comes into mind like excavators, bulldozers, dumptruck, forklift, grabbers and even drilling truck.
Huina haven’t made any compromises in the looks department of these toys and hence they look almost lifelike. The toys range anywhere between $32 to $87, although we don’t seem to understand why something like the forklift which is the least complex in mechanism of all the toys has been tagged with the highest price.
Some of the parts of these toys are made from wear resistant alloy- like the scoop of the excavator, blade of the bulldozer, forks of the forklift, clamps of the grabber truck, etc. All the vehicles are controlled by a 2.4GHz controller (100metre range) which are powered by 2xAA batteries. The model toys on the other hand feature rechargeable Nickel Cadmium batteries in the box, these can keep the toys working for a decent 15-30 minutes.
The lifelike comparisons of the toys isn’t limited just to their looks though. Huina claims that the movement of the of the parts mimic the hydraulic cylinders on the real ones. Huina alloy excavator for example performs 680 degree of rotation. Thanks to rubber tracks on the excavator, log grabber and drilling truck and high quality threaded tyres on the forklift, dumptruck and bulldozer the movement of the toys are also comparable to the real deal.
